Quick Review: Astropad Darkboard

The iPad has emerged as an indispensable canvas for creativity in the ever-evolving realm of digital artistry. Its touch-sensitive screen and versatile capabilities have revolutionized how artists, illustrators, and designers bring their visions to life. But what if we told you there's an accessory that can elevate your iPad experience to an entirely new level, one you might not have known you needed?

One of the most significant selling features for the iPad is the portability of the device. Taking your art wherever you want to go is a must-have for most artists, but it is not always the most comfortable to draw on, let's say, sitting on the couch or outside on a porch swing. Enter the Astropad Darkboard—a game-changing iPad accessory poised to redefine how you create and interact with digital art—bringing ergonomics to the iPad never experienced before.

Here are some basic ways the Astropad Darkboard has improved the drawing experience.

1. **Improved Posture**: Traditional graphics tablets often require users to hunch over a desk while drawing, designing, or holding the iPad while also trying to draw or write. Using an iPad with the Darkboard allows you to maintain a more natural posture by adjusting your drawing angle. At the same time, it's comfortable to hold due to the extra real estate the Darkboard provides. It also comes with a stand for when you are at a table or desk.

2. **Reduced Strain**: The Darkboard can reduce strain on your wrist, as you can adjust your drawing angle and always have more flexibility in drawing position. This can help prevent conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome and reduce fatigue during long creative sessions.

3. **Flexibility**: Users can position the Darkboard at an optimal angle for their comfort, whether that's on a stand, flat on a table, or even on their lap. This flexibility can help users adapt to different working environments and maintain better ergonomics.

4. **Size**: The Darkboard creates a larger working area than a standard iPad case. This creates more drawing space and a more comfortable workspace.  Drawing on the edge of the iPad while holding it is difficult and uncomfortable without the Darkboard.

Another great feature of the Darkboard is how the iPad snaps into place. It feels secure and holds the iPad so it won't fall out. If I were to drop the iPad while it was in the Darkboard, it would be protected. You can leave the iPad in the Dartboard while charging as well.

Overall, this Astropad Darkboard has significantly impacted where I'm comfortable using my iPad. Providing me with more comfortable options to draw on my iPad has led to more completed drawings and more opportunities to enjoy my iPad. At first glance, the Darkboard seemed like an overpriced accessory, and I was still on the fence about whether it was worth the price. But now that I use it daily, I'm not sure I could ever go without it.  Let us know how it works for you in the comments below.
